RELATIONSHIPS
With a focus on the relationship as the client, I offer perspective helpful to identifying power dynamics, building skillful communication, negotiating agreements, mediating conflict, increasing emotional literacy and facilitating connection necessary to support couples and other types of relationships. I have specific experience working with inter-racial and cross-cultural relationships. Mediation also available. |
INDIVIDUALS
Sometimes what is called for is a time to explore the stories of your life with a trusted person to aid in greater understanding of patterns, make difficult decisions, create opportunities for change and gain insight into behaviors and motivations. When in the midst of all you do, so much can be gained from a space you can feel truly heard, understood and seen. |
FAMILIES
Often improving and if necessary healing the relationship between a child and their caregiver/parent is the best therapy for children. This is aligned with my orientation toward working with children and youth in the contexts in which they live. In my experience, what troubles our young people is embedded in the complex dynamics of those who care for, educate and mentor them and these relationships have the power to change their lives. For parents, kin-caregivers or foster parents raising children, this is an opportunity to receive guidance and support as you parent your children through their stages of development. Family therapy is also effective for children exposed to trauma as the strengthening of the parent/caregiver-child relationship alleviates the long-term impact of trauma on children. If you believe your young person may need individual therapy and/or you want a parent consultation, I welcome you to contact me to discuss these options. |
I invite the opportunity to talk to see if I am a good fit for the work you are hoping to do and with the people you care about - I offer a free telephone consultation and happy to answer any questions you might have.
